Foreign Ministry says Maldivians can now send care packages to their families staying in Trivandrum and Cochin aboard the repatriation flights to these destinations.
In a statement Foreign Ministry said with Indian Cities under a 21-day lockdown because of the Covid-19 crisis, Maldivians staying in Trivandrum and Cochin are running out of even the basic necessities.
The Ministry said these care packages would be send aboard the repatriation flight to Trivandrum schedule to depart on the 11th of April by national carrier Maldivian.
It said those who want to send packages to Trivandrum and Cochin can fill submission forms available online. Foreign Ministry said priority would be given to the first 600 forms submitted.
The Ministry also said the packages would be collected from a special counter located at the departure hall of Velaana International Airport. It said the counter would be open on 10th of this month from morning 08:00hrs to 11:00hrs and afternoon 14:00hrs to 18:00hrs.
Foreign Ministry said ministry’s hotline numbers 302399 and 3023943 would offer more information on the process.
Foreign Ministry have collaborated with Maldivian and have so far sent 9 tons and 7 tons of care packages to Lanka and Malaysia respectively.
