Maldives Police Services says 215 individuals were advised to stay indoors today having violated the daily 3-hour curfew.
The three hour curfew was imposed by authorities earlier this week in the Greater Male’ region of Male’, Villimale and Hulhumale’ from 17:00hrs to 20:00hrs everyday as part of the measures taken to prevent the community spread of highly contagious Covid-19 virus.
Police said 215 individuals were advised to stay indoors during the curfew period and that these were first time violators. Police said these include 117 Maldivians and 38 expatriates.
Police also said 6 other individuals were advised twice for repeatedly breaking the curfew. Police informed that no person was issued a warning or fined for violating the curfew.
The curfew has now been in place for seven days.
Authorities are combating the preventive measures taken against the global pandemic with Government announcing earlier tonight that it’s offices as well as schools; universities and colleges will remain close for an additional week.
