Vilivaru Resort has reported an incident of a fire breaking out from the property on Wednesday, 08 April 2020.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirms the fire struck at a docked cargo container at the resort.
Authorities have been reported present on site to control the fire, at the time of the incident report.
The tourist property was recently transformed into a quarantine facility in light of the COVID-19 pandemic; utilized to test and screen suspected cases and arrivals to Maldives.
Reports from authorities have confirmed the fire has been completely controlled. Furthermore, no injuries on personnel were reported due to the incident.
The cargo container had plastic along with materials used in construction.
