Commissioner General of Customs, the frontman of Maldives Customs Service Mr Ahmed Noomaan has passed away.

The late Mr Noomaan had been ill as reported by his family, before his demise was confirmed.

A close associate of Mr Noomaan confirmed he passed away while getting treatment for a kidney-related ailment.

Mr Noomaan was also the Human Rights Committee head of Adaalath Party.

He was appointed as the Customs Service honcho on 11 December 2018 by incumbent president of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Prior to his appointment to Customs, Mr Noomaan was the Chairman of Fenaka Corporation and has a long tenure at State Electric Company (STELCO).

Mr Noomaan is survived by his wife and two children.
