Health Minister Abdullah Ameen has opened discussions on the set-up of the ‘Covid Village’, a government funded medical facility that would cater for covid-19 patients.
The 300 bed medical facility to be built in hulhumale would treat highly critical patients afflicted with Covid-19.
Public Service Media PSM reported that in today’s discussions Minister Ameen had talks on how to operate the facility as well the policies that would be used for its operation. He also held talks on training doctors and nurses that would be stationed at the facility.
National Emergency Operation Center says this facility begin built near Tree Top hospital in hulhumale would be finished by the 15th of this month.
Once completed the facility could treat the most critical Covid-19 patients with an ICU and ventilators also available at the facility.
Although Maldives National Defense Force MNDF is spearheading the project, personnel from HDC, MWSC, Stelco, Fenaka Corporation, STO, Maci, and Ameen Construction are also taking part in the building process.
