Maldives Police Services releases information on 11 people who were arrested with 61kgs of narcotics in an operation by its drug enforcement department earlier this month.
Police said the operation was conducted in Male' and Hulhumale.
It said four houses were raided in the operation and that large amounts of money was confiscated from the crime scenes.
Police said all 11 arrested had prior criminal records and had committed several criminal offences. It said these include abuse and trafficking of drugs as well as theft and destroying of evidence.
Police said the criminal court had extended their arrest period on the 26th of this month.
Police said it was working to find relevant evidence and witnesses for the case.
