Health Protection Agency HPA says the individual who shared a room at the Royal Island quarantine facility with the second Maldivian tested positive for Covid-19 will also be tested for the virus.

Speaking to reporters, offical spokesperson on Covid-19 updates Mr. Mabrouk Azeez said the individual who tested positive earlier had showed symptoms of the virus.

He added that as the person had been sharing a room with another individual that individual will also be tested for the virus.

The Maldivian who tested positive on Sunday came back to the country from the UK and had been qurantined at the Royal Holiday quarantine facility.

Last Friday another Maldivian who came back from the UK tested positive for Covid-19.

Seventeen people have now tested positive for the virus here in the Maldives with 13 declared cured of the virus.
