Government Spokesperson on Covid-19 related updates Mr. Mabrouk Azeez says 61 people have been instructed to stay under home quarantine and isolation in the capital Male as part of the precautionary measures taken against the global pandemic.

Speaking to the media tonight, Mr. Mabrouk said 44 people have been placed under home quarantine in Male’ with a further 17 placed under home isolation also in Male’.

He said out of the 17 individuals placed under home isolation, 13 were Maldivian nationals and the other four were foreign nationals.

Mr. Mabrouk also clarified that 43 of the 44 individuals placed under home quarantine were Maldivian nationals and remaining person was a foreign national.

As part of the stern measures taken to deter a massive outbreak of Covid-19 in Maldives, government announced on the 18th of this month that all inbound passengers with exception of tourists would be placed under quarantine for 14 days.
