The Maldives Ministry of Economic Development has announced the employment approval services will remain functional despite the closure of state institutions; and government.

Maldives government remains closed down on official grounds in light of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus; which has been reaching several global destinations. State institutions, the Maldives Parliament and several commissions remain closed on official capacity; with administrative functions operatoinal in case of urgencies.

Ministry of Economic Development on Thursday announced the expat online system will remain functional and render all necessary services.

Meanwhile, Maldives government had extended the state closure duration until 2 April 2020.

The ministry in their announcement revealed service seekers will be apply to apply for court extension on employment approval as well as the application of the employment approval.

Moreover, the services will remain functional from 29 March until 02 April 2020 from 10:00hrs until 12:00hrs, except for weekends. The service will be rendered through the expat online system.

The closure extention on government institutions was announced by Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the press conference held on Wednesday evening.
