Maldives Police Services have seized narcotics worth seventy two million rufiyaa including more than 60 kgs of heroin.
In a tweet, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said police conducted a 9-day operation based on intelligence reports and have confiscated a massive load of narcotics.
He said 61 kgs of heroin were seized in the operation, which is valued up to 72 million rufiyya.
Hameed said 11 Maldivian were arrested in the operation with 7 people apprehended aboard a fishing vessel. He added that four others were arrested from Male’ and Hulhumale’.
Last January, Police conducted another operation in GDH. Hoadeydhoo and arrested 9 Maldivians. Police have since released their personal information.
