Operators working at the call center set-up by Ministry of Health to attend Covid-19 related queries have attended 988 calls in the past 24 hours.
Speaking to the media on Covid-19 updates official spokesperson Mr. Mabrouk Azeez said since 27th January Covid-19 hotline 1676 has received a total of 13, 920 calls.
He said 988 of these call were received within the last 24 hours.
Up until the 16th of this month the call center received 6631 calls but operators handled additional 976 that day alone. A 50% rise in calls has been reported from 16th of this month till now with an increase of 7289 calls last week alone.
A spike in calls was reported after Health Protection Agency HPA’s urged all those who had contact with former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian National tested positive for the virus earlier this month after going back from his holiday here in the Maldives.
Mr. Mabrouk said today that Felaini traveled to Morocco before arriving in Maldives via Dubai on the 8th of this month. He traveled back to Dubai on the 12th of March while stopping in Russia before going to China.
Felaini tested positive for Covid-19 on the 20th of this month.
