Maldives Police Service has arrested a 28 year old local from Haa Alif atoll Kelaa with illicit drugs in possession.
Police confirms they had conducted an operation following an intelligence report over possible drug possession from a local individual.
Authorities had apprehended him around the vicinity of the island's harbor. At the time of the apprehension the local was discovered with noticeable rubber packet containing the substance.
Meanwhile, Haa Alif Magistrate's Court ordered to hold the suspect in remand for a duration of 12 days at a venue designated from Ministry of Home Affairs.
Local law enforcement is currently investigating the possible drug peddling case.
