The island of Vaavu atoll Thinadhoo came into a transportation lockdown earlier when an individual was quarantined for the possible presence of COVID-19.
However, the quarantined patient's tests came negative any presence of the virus.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives claims the individual was transported to the isolation facility at Thinadhoo for tests and screening.
The initial tests came negative for any presence of the virus, however HPA notes the individual is still suspected of being infected and a second testing will be conducted after 24 hours.
Following this, HPA had assessed the 'contact tracing' of the island to identify if the individual came into contact with any other person. The agency, post the assessment declared the island was safe noting there was no reason for continued lockdown.
