A Bangladeshi expatriate, traveling from home country to Maldives was apprehended by Maldives Police Service carrying over 1,900 party pills, or narcotic drugs.

Maldives Customs Service confirms the traveler was scanned for his luggage upon arrival, and was discovered with a total of 1,932 narcotic drugs commonly referred to as 'party pills.'

The 26-year old suspect of drugg smuggling was apprehended on last Saturday.

Through preliminary tests conducted by Customs' authority, the pills were identified as Amphetamine/Ya ba.

Meanwhile the street value of these pills have been reported at MVR193,200.

Customs had handed over the suspect along with confiscated items.

Earlier in 6 November 2019, another Bangladeshi traveler, aged 28 years, was arrested with a total of 2,339 party pills.
