A speed boat carrying 28 passengers on board capsized into a reef requiring immediate assistance.
The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) is currently attending at the site of incidence provide help in rescuing the stranded passengers.
MNDF reported the speed boat, identified as 'Souvenir 19' capsized into the house reef of Maayaafushi around 07:43hrs on Monday morning.
The speed boat was scheduled to transfer tourists on board from the resort run at Maayaafushi island to Hulhule' - Velana International Airport.
While no injuries have been reported, MNDF confirms the passengers on board have been transferred back to the resort with the help of another vessel from the resort.
Moreover, MNDF confirmed the speed boat was carrying 25 tourists and 3 crew members when the incident took place.
It was reported that following hours of work, the speed boat was righted.
