A vendor cart at Addu City caught fire resulting in the complete burn down of the property - damaging it beyond repair.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Southern Division confirms a vendor cart was struck with fire, and was reported around 05:45hrs on Sunday early morning, 09 February 2020.

The Southern Division of Fire and Rescue had attended the venue of incident, managing to douse the fire completely.

However, the vendor cart was damaged beyond use according to the officers who were active on site.

The Fire and Rescue further confirmed there were no human casualties.

Incidents related to fire have become rather unsually common in recent months, with a major blaze incident at Male' City in 2019 which claimed the life of one and caused millions in property damage.

Moreover, another recent fire incident took place at Gaaf Dhaal atoll Gahdhoo where a motorbike was damaged beyond repair.
