Maldives Police Service confirms a total of 6 suspects related to the stabbing of three foreigners at Hulhumale', have been arrested.
The local law enforcement, earlier on Thursday evening through a press briefing confirmed five individuals had been arrested so far in relation to the incident.
Post the briefing Police had made the sixth arrest as per local reports.
Meanwhile, the victims of the said attack were currently stable as confirmed by Police.
The attack on three foreigners - two Chinese and one Australian nationals - have been suspected to be related to extremists active in the island nation. This has further become apparent through a now viral video which circulated on social media network.
In the video, the radicalists had warned attacks of such kind will continue while claiming responsbility for the stabbing.
Maldives Police Service, in a press statement on Thursday morning confirmed they were currently probing the validity of the video.
The stabbing took place at Hulhumale' on Tuesday evening, aimed at foreign nationals which included one tourist and two expatriate employees.
Following the incident, Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla had asserted the sanctity and safety of guests visiting the island nation was paramount and will be ensured.
Commenting further on the situation, the Minister challenged such extremists movements assuring the government will not entertain any initiative to under the civil affairs and liberties of the country.
In addition to this, Maldives Minister of Tourism had also noted the safety and security of tourists were of utmost importance to the government and the general public of the country.
