A radicalist group has stepped forward claiming responsibility for the stabbing of 03 tourists at the satellite town of Hulhumale' on Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday evening, 04 February 2020, Maldives Police Service reported at least 03 tourists were stabbed at a violent altercation in Hulhumale'.
The group, has since claimed responsbility for the incident further claiming their actions will continue - which was made through a video that has gone viral on social media platforms.
In the video, the radicalist group had warned the current state of continuing their attacks on tourists.
Furthermore, the group laid blame on the government accusing the state of fallacy against citizens, stripping public rights and unlawful arrests.
The content of the video also indicates the radicalists had warned local religious scholars, whom they had lambasted as 'two-faced.'
Meanwhile local law enforcement has reported they were investigating the incident, adding no arrests have been made so far in relation to the case. In addition to this, Maldives Police Service is currently validating the legitimacy of the now viral video.
On Tuesday's eve, Maldives Police received stabbing reports around 20:10hrs from Hulhumale' - right near a football pitch.
The victims have been identified as two Chinese and one Australian, out of which one was a tourist while the other two were expatriate employees.
Police had further commented the tourists were attacked by unknown assailants behind the cover of helmets, who had assaulted them while on bikes.
The victims had not received critical wounds and were reported to be recovering.
