The slain taxi driver, Gasim Hassan, was founded bleeding to death at the satellite town of Hulhumale' on the night of 04 December.

Following the murder, and after investigations led by Maldives Police, authorities arrested one Aduham Mohamed originating from Lhaviyani atoll Hinnavaru as the prime suspect.

Aduham has since confessed to the murder of the now slain taxi driver, admitting he killed Gasim while attempting to mug the latter.

Maldives Police had claimed they did not find involvement of another suspect in the murder.

However, authorities note the perpetrator received assistance in changing his clothes post the murder.
