A Chinese holidaymaker has been reported dead after drowning while at a snorkeling trip.
Police reports the 74 year old tourist drowned while taking a snorkeling trip at the lagoon of Lily Beach Resort and Spa.
Authorities received the incident report around 16:15hrs on Thursday afternoon.
The tourist was then transferred to Alif Dhaal Mahibadhoo Hospital, where the traveler was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Maldives Police confirms they were investigating the cause of incidence.
Several incidents of tourists drowning have surfaced in recent months, which included a tourist dying as recent as last month.
A German tourist died during a swimming trip at Safari Island Resort at Alif Alif atoll.
In another unrelated incident, a 69 year old UK traveler drowned while taking a snorkeling dive.
A death by drowning case was also reported on 04 November from Fuvahmulah while a Sweden tourist died following a dinghy accident at Dhaal atoll Kudahuvadhoo.
